Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Provider Bios
Kevin D. Walter, MD, FAAP, is program director of Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, an assistant professor of Orthopedics at The Medical College of Wisconsin and a member of Children’s Specialty Group.
Dr. Walter received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his residency and was a chief resident at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Walter completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Sports Medicine.
He is most noted for treating children and adolescents with nonoperative orthopedics issues such as back pain, concussion and traumatic and overuse musculoskeletal injuries.
Dr. Walter regularly gives lectures and has published articles on various sports medicine topics. He is a member of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Medical Advisory Board and the National Federation of State High School Associations’ Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.
Shayne Fehr, MD, is a pediatric sports medicine specialist at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, an assistant professor of Orthopedics at The Medical College of Wisconsin and a member of Children’s Specialty Group.
Dr. Fehr received his medical degree from the University of Illinois, Peoria. He completed his residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Aurora. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Sports Medicine.
He is most noted for treating children and adolescents with nonoperative orthopedic problems, including traumatic and overuse injuries, musculoskeletal pain and concussion.
Dr. Fehr regularly gives lectures and has published articles on various sports medicine topics. He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine and American Academy of Pediatrics.
Roger Lyon, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, an associate professor of Orthopedic Surgery at The Medical College of Wisconsin and a member of Children’s Specialty Group.
Dr. Lyon received his medical degree from the University of Chicago and completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego. He completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Children’s Hospital in Boston, and he is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Lyon has extensive expertise in treating children with sports injuries. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee, shoulder and other joints. He also has experience treating hip dysplasia, foot deformities and fractures.
Dr. Lyon actively is involved in researching bone and joint disorders in children. He regularly gives lectures and organizes medical conferences on these and other topics.
Scott E. Van Valin, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, an assistant professor of Orthopedic Surgery at The Medical College of Wisconsin and a member of Children’s Specialty Group.
Dr. Van Valin received his medical degree from The Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. He completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego. He is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Van Valin specializes in pediatric and adolescent sports injuries, and complex foot and hip disorders. He has published articles in various medical journals.
