Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Athletic Trainer Provider Bios

 

Michael McElroy, MS, LAT, is a nationally certified and state-licensed athletic trainer with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’sSports Medicine Program. He primarily sees patients with Kevin Walter, MD, at Children’s Greenway Clinic, Greenfield, Wis.

 

McElroy earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois, Urbana.

 

He has practiced at the high school and college levels, and also in an orthopedic and sports medicine clinic setting. He has experience treating athletes of all ages, from kids to professional athletes. He specializes in patient education and care of sports-related injuries and concussions.

 

McElroy is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and Wisconsin Athletic Trainers’ Association.

 

 

Kyle Scharer, MS, LAT, is a nationally certified and state-licensed athletic trainer with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s Sports Medicine Program. He primarily sees patients with Shayne Fehr, MD, at Children’s Greenway Clinic, Greenfield, Wis.

 

Scharer earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, and a master’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Georgia, Athens. He completed an internship with a minor league baseball team and a residency program in Athletic Training with the UW Health Sports Medicine Program, Madison, Wis.

 

Prior to completing his residency, Scharer served on staff at East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., assisting with the health care needs of a variety of college athletes. He has provided care for pediatric and adolescent athletes on the field and in a clinic setting.

 

Scharer is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers’ Association.
